Potential

Anyway, I saw potential in this bike. From all the research and browsing I'd been doing (I'll include a load of 'inspiration' images I've been collecting in a future post) I could envision some minor changes having a major impact...on the looks at least.
My mechanical skills are somewhat lacking but I figure it's only because I've never had the chance to really improve them. So I basically have an idea of what I'd like to do to the bike but have little clue on exactly how hard some of my customisations will be. I've been chatting with Luke from Scotts Motorcycles and have the bike there to have a few electrical issues checked out. He is going to help me realistically decide what I can do on a budget and work out some staging.
It's a tough call as he thinks the bike would be worth a lot more in it's original condition. He may be right but it's worth more to 'me' with my touch on it. I'll try and keep all the original parts intact so it can be potentially restored in the future...

The Start...

So here she is...My new 1985 BMW R80 mono. I'd say it was a spur of the moment purchase on eBay but I'd been looking around for something that fit the bill for 4-5 months. 1 bid was all it took...I had her shipped down from Brisbane a couple of days later.
"Everything works" was what it said. I didn't get my hopes up though, and just as well. It only turned over a couple of times before the battery died. Torture for someone who just wanted to get out on the road...
